Applying to Alabama State University as a first-year student is straightforward. Prospective students must complete the online application, submit a $30 non-refundable application fee, and provide an official high school transcript or GED. ACT or SAT scores are optional for admission but recommended for scholarship consideration. Priority deadlines are May 10 for Summer and July 30 for Fall enrollment. Admissions decisions are based on a combination of GPA and test scores, with placement options such as the Summer Bridge Program available for students needing additional support. Once admitted, students should complete the FAFSA using school code 001005, apply for housing, and register for orientation.
Transfer students applying to Alabama State University must complete the online application, pay a $30 non-refundable fee, and submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. To be considered for admission, applicants must have earned at least 15 transferable credit hours from a regionally accredited institution and possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. Students with fewer than 15 credit hours are considered freshman transfers and must also submit high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores. Applications are reviewed once all required documents are received. Housing applications open in the spring and require a $250 deposit. Orientation is waived for students transferring with 60 or more credit hours.
